Pushing the Boundaries and Sleep Strikes!

Hi All!  Hope you all survived the school holiday's .. and the dreary weather that seems to come with it.  Why is it that as soon as school holiday's start the weather starts to pack it in!

Over the past few weeks, on some day's, my lovely little 19 month old decides that she no longer requires a day sleep.  Ah WHAT????  No one tells you that these day sleeps come to an end .. I mean I realise that if she was going to school as a five year old requiring a nap at lunchtime would possibly mean we have a problem, but I seriously never considered in the near future that these would come to an end!  Luckily it has been sporadic when she does decide to be up all day, but still on those day's I really find myself working my tail off more than I ever have in my life!  Is it bad to look forward to these day sleeps .. in the way you look forward to an unwanted visitor to leave?!  That sounds absolutely terrible just reflecting on that now .. but what I mean is, I need her to take those naps like everyone needs air!  It's the time that I get lunch ready, get dinner ready, do the washing etc etc .. who am I kidding?!  Of course I do those things .. but it's also the time I get to catch up and get on FaceBook!

Anyway as I said, it's pretty sporadic, but even at that, the thought of it scares the bejaysus out of me!  Everyone I've spoken to about it say's that it's really common for girls to drop their day sleeps earlier than boy's .. my nephew who is 2.5 yrs old still has a 2 - 3 hour nap during the day, why can't she take a little leaf out of his book!

Little Miss 19 month old has also developed quite the personality in the past couple of months!  VERY head strong, and I'd hate to say it - a crafty wee thing too.  At lunchtime today she wanted to have a cracker .. but she hadn't eaten her sandwiches yet so I said to her that she could have a cracker after she ate her sandwiches.  I then turned my back to do something else.  When I looked back to her, sandwiches were nowhere to be seen .. she turned over her hands to me (as if to say 'see i told you!') so I gave her a cracker and only a few moments later I then saw her squirming around in her high chair.  I went over to see what was going on .. only to find she'd stock piled the sandwiches behind her back and now they were all squished into the chair!  So she clearly got one over me .. then she wanted my cup of tea and when I said no she sent me off to get the ball we were playing with .. I turn around to find her making a bee-line for my cuppa!  Two-love to her.  I clearly need to lift my game!  And next time I will not be such a push over!

Have you all seen the fitness articles on the site?  Lots of different articles to interest everyone from what to look for when choosing a gym, to sample training programs for home and pregnancy.

Day sleeps?what are they?!

I have an almost 9 month old daughter. Since she was three months old she has only ever slept for either 2 or 3 half hour sleeps during the day, over the 12 hour period! I each sleep is 30 minutes to the second! Most days she survives on 2 half hour sleeps. I hope she doesn't grow out of these naps too fast, for I also enjoy my Facebook catch ups etc! My mother tells me I also slept for a few half hour increments during the day though, so I guess this is pay back!!!
