Long Time No Hear!
Hello Stranger!
Oh it's been a very long time hasn't it! In fact, my last post was just following the last school holiday's and now it's the end of next so it's been a term! I am terrible! I will make an effort to update this blog more regularly.
I hope you all are well and finding activities to keep the wee tot's occupied in the wet weather of late. God, last week we were at Te Papa twice! Thankfully Te Papa is the size of Texas with LOTS of stimulation so I don't think she noticed...
Wow - so just looking at what I wrote last time, we have totally moved on from the hiding of sandwiches! Gosh, that behaviour was angelic compared to what was coming my way.
Since my last update we've had biting, hitting, battles to sleep during the day, battles to sleep during the night, battles to stay asleep during the night and unbuckling of the seat belt in the car. So it's been a blast!
Probably the least enjoyable out of all of these would have been the biting. She actually only did it once, but I made the entire experience so negative I'd
say she wouldn't want to revisit it again! It was one day whilst out at a park with a friend and her little girl. We actually catch up with these two on a
regular basis so it wasn't as if she was a new threat coming into her world! Anyway my little girl was playing in one of those tunell type cylinders that you see at the parks .. the other little girl was playing outside of it and poking her fingers in trying to have fun with my daughter. Well the next thing I know everyone's in tears and there are bite marks on the other little girls fingers!
God I was absolutely totally mortified! I could not apologise enough and I marched my little girl over to her and made her say 'sowwy' too. I kept thinking about it all day, rang the Mum later that same day to apologise and was frightened to take her anywhere else in public again.
Actually come to think of it, over this period she turned into a right bully. I saw her push kids at the park on a couple of occasions - it was horrendous!
It's so embarrassing as a Mother but when I've told this story to friends, they have assured me it's quite normal. Normal or not, I won't be having that behaviour!
So it was a few weeks of stern words and coming down on her like a tonne of bricks when it happened and - touch wood - we haven't seen it since. No doubt we will get some other delightful behaviour next. Haven't had the spitting yet ...
Hope you are all well and I promise I'll be in touch more often!
Until next time,
Sovita.
