Christmas Chaos!

How are we all holding up in the throws of Christmas chaos?

I have to say I am not one of these people that buy their christmas presents throughout the year taking advantage of the sales...nor am I one of these people that have all their Christmas shopping done and dusted by now with the only task left to do is wrap the presents!  So needless to say there is a bit of last minute activity going on in our household!

We celebrated Kennedy's birthday last weekend.  She was born on Christmas Day so we decided to bring her birthday forward a few weeks so she can have her own special day. Last year I wasn't quite as organised and when I finally got around to having a little party for her, half of the guest list couldn't come as they had their own christmas gatherings to attend too - so I learnt my lesson there.  So that took up a bit of head space trying to organise that - I mean it
wasn't like it was the party of the century, hardly, there was only a few little friends and mostly family there.  But even so, I got myself worked up in a right tiz with it!  What cake shall I make?  Shall I try to make a butterfly cake (I thought about that for 5 minutes then realised that was far beyond my creative ability!), will there be enough room for everyone, what other food shall I make, what if it rains, what if the cake doesn't turn out .. the pressure we put on ourselves at times!  Because really, no one really cares and no one is there to analyse the food in that way!  In the end we had a fabulous day, the weather was perfect, the kids all had a good time and there was no fighting or intervention required - so a success!  The kids are at that age where sharing becomes a problem so I was worried that there would need to be some policing and separating going on, but nothing of the sort which was great!

We have the creche Christmas Party this week - honestly these little people have quite the social life!

Have you all seen this?  http://advent.wellingtonnz.com/2011.  It's the Advent Calendar holding lots of little treats for things in and around Wellington.  Fabulous!  Each day a new door is displayed and behind it there's the treat for the day - there has been some great ones so far - lots of 2 for 1 deals for the Zoo, coffee's etc.  Bit of fun for Xmas anyway!

Anyway I hope you all have a fantastic Christmas with your families, let's hope for a fine day! This year we are planning to have a picnic at Queen Elizabeth Park with both the families so that makes it alot easier!  Just need that much awaited summer weather ....

Whatever you do, have a safe, great time!  Thanks so much for reading the blog over the year, I look forward to sharing more of my adventures with you next year as I head into the Terrible Two's! Obviously that's not me, literally ...!

See you in the new year!

Take Care
