Big Beds and Little Girls

So little miss nearly-two-years-old is now in a big bed.  Putting her in a big bed was actually the wild card option in a last ditch attempt to sort out her sleep  before we were going on holiday.  Well something had to be done as I was not interested in getting up to her four or five times a night whilst I was on holiday!

Initially it went amazingly well!  For the first time in months, she actually slept through the night!  And what was even more of a treat, when she did wake up in the morning, she would stay in bed and wait for one of us to come in and get her!  Everyone said she'd be up and down, in and out of that bed, but we didn't even have that once!  Off we went on holiday and she still remained in bed all night!  Hooray, we'd conquered that phase!!

Well, that was short lived.  We have been back from Rarotonga 3 weeks now and every single night since then Madam has been up and down, more often than a **** knickers!!.  I'll let you fill in the blanks!  Into the lounge, trapising back and forth into the kitchen, spare room, our bedroom - honestly the adventure is endless! I march her back to bed everytime, I am not even out her bedroom door and she's up again.  We have tried the Super Nanny method (I opened  her door to find her sitting up on the change table - I mean how did she get up there?  Honestly it was like a horror movie where you go into a room and see a child way up in the air wondering how they got there!!), I have tried bribes, reduced her day nap, extended her day nap, extended her bed time - and now I am trying the ultimate ... skipping the day sleep!

Some things worked better than others - bribes worked well but not consistently enough for me to try that every night .. and there is only so much $2 shop paraphernalia I can handle in my lounge!  Skipping the day sleep is also hit and miss but I am persisting with that, as it became a real battle to get her down during the day AND at night and skipping the day sleep all together is helping get her down at night.  Although the days are soooo long without that 60-90m reprieve that I used to get!

At least we are heading into Summer and good weather so we can get out and about and speed up that time lag!  And though I really really really did not  want her to drop that day sleep just yet, if it means the household get's a better night's sleep then I will take one for the team!

So that's the latest antics in the Corkin household!

Until next time,
Sovita

Oh, PS:  If ANYONE has ANY ideas on a solution at all to our battles feel free to let me know!  I am open to all ideas - no idea not considered at this point!
