Dairy intolerance and rice or soy milk

Our delighful nutritionist Rebecca was asked a different question about dairy intolerance... "My son has been on Neocate formula for nearly 2 years after he had silent reflux and an intolerance to milk protein. We're keen to get him off that now as he eats small amounts of dairy okay but I'm concerned that putting him on to a large quantity of milk a day would cause constipation issues again.

Are we better to offer him rice milk or soy? And is there a limit to how much is a healthy amount? Are the flavours soy/rice milks okay or too sugary?"

Dairy Intolerance at 13 months

Our wonderful nutritionist Rebecca was asked a question about Dairy Intolerance and UHT milk.

"I'm hoping you can help me with a few questions regarding dairy intolerance in a 13 month old who I am trying to wean!

Soy milk for children?

It's reasonably well known that in some children dairy products have been known to exacerbate eczema symptoms. Consequently some parents prefer to give their children soy milk as an alternative to cow's milk. Our nutritionist was asked, "I have a 2 year old who has a small amount of eczema and I am trailing excluding diary from his diet. I have been giving him soy ( and rice milk but this doesn't seem to agree with him ) but someone recommended not giving boys too much soy because of the oestrogen levels - can you give me any advice on this??"
